Niigata Oil and Gas Fields

JAPEX has been producing crude oil and natural gas at five oil and gas fields in Niigata Prefecture.

The natural gas produced is supplied through our gas pipeline network. To effectively use the natural gas produced to adjust for seasonal fluctuations in supply and demand, we also store natural gas underground in our gas field.

Iwafune-oki Oil and Gas Field

  • The development and operation of this oil and gas field are conducted jointly by JAPEX, Japex Offshore Ltd. (JPO, a consolidated subsidiary of JAPEX), and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc.

Shiunji Gas Field

  • Underground storage of natural gas is implemented by injecting gas produced in other gas fields underground for reproduction to adjust supply and demand
